Sheriff David Clark's Perceptions of Misplaced Passions

Sheriff David Clark noted in a letter to the editor that he did not witness the same passion, emotion, disgust, anger and outrage emanate from public debate in the black community, from elected officials, and other political sorts, like he witnessed in reaction to the defeat of Justice Louis Butler.

He also stated that he didn’t see a press release from Governor Doyle referring to the writing scores report as “tragic.”

Sheriff David Clark was elected to be the top County law enforcement officer by the public. County law enforcement should be his sole concentration. Notwithstannding the 1st Amendment, in his capacity as
Sheriff, he should stay away from personal socio-political commentary.

We are confused enough. We all know that he panders and caters to a group of people who love and adore him. We also all know that race matters so, when are we supposed to "get over it?" In his mind race only matters when it's convenient to play the color blind card.

My one word description of the Sheriff is "dangerous." All other thoughts fall in that vein. I'm not a hater and give him props for being a decent Sheriff.

He has a right to his views which are merely his personal opinions and should not be looked upon as fact or having any moral or social authority.

When I need social or political insight I don't ask the Sheriff. When I need a sermon, I go to church.

I think that David missed the "tragedy". It is about far more than Louis losing the election but the fact that there is a return to the status quo with no Black on that court bench. I think the fact that Louis did not answer those negative ads hurt him as well.

However, I do agree with what he said about the school system. Still I don't think that the school system is intent on educating Black children in particular (since the comparison is always Black children against white children-which I object to). It is more focused on using the disparities of low scores, growing drop out rates, etc. to garner funds from the state and other funding sources in pretext of solving these problems but the reality is that it is for it's own administrative benefit. I am sorry to say that but I must tell the truth. I guess one would have to ask why are those test scores low year after year after year, but folks are getting raises, having their perks paid for by the tax payers.
